Youve found the perfect floorplan.  You’ve worked with the builder, and they’ve been great.  You’ve watched the building process from beginning to end.  Should you have a new construction home inspection??

The answer is yes.

I have inspected many newly built homes with no previous owner and have found small issues that are easy to fix but could lead to big problems down the road if not addressed soon.  When construction takes place, many trades come in to do just their part of the work.  When that happens, something that was correct before can be disturbed by the trade who comes in after.  For example, the insulation is installed in the attic then the HVAC installer comes behind to install the duct work in the attic and moves insulation out of their way creating a gap or void in the insulation.  While this is easy to fix, it leads to loss of heating and cooling that results in increased utility costs.  The decision to hire home inspector for new construction to look at the house as a whole will alert you to these issues and allow you or the builder to correct them before moving in.

When you buy a car, do you test drive it?  Absolutely!!  A home inspection provides that test drive of your house by a professional.  When making an investment in a home of your own, (for most the largest investment you will ever make) let a professional inspector look at the house with your best interest in mind and make sure that all is well.  Don’t just Google new home inspectors near me, ask your realtor or friends in the area who they recommend for the inspection.  You’ll be glad you did.
